Launch48 London is well underway, with teams getting cracking on their ideas.
After a kick-off from Oxygen’s Simon Jenner last night, over 30 individuals pitched ideas about anything from surfing to weddings to oranges. Yes, oranges. But, as they say, great ideas are worthless without execution.
After 2 rounds of highly sophisticated voting (aka hands in the air), 8 ideas were selected. A few beers and burgers later, and teams were chosen, ready to start work on their ideas in the morning – or for a few – starting straight away and hacking through the night.
The 8 teams are:
Skatemapper – Location based ap for skateboarders to find and share the best spots wherever they are in the world.
Chattermill – Sentiment analysis for a feedback digest for customer facing small businesses e.g. restaurants, hotels.
Customer Development marketplace – You need to get customer feedback, but how do you find your exact target demographic without paying hundreds of pounds for professional market research? This ap will allow people to take part in short paid Skype interviews, and will allow you to hone in on the exact customer demographic you need, cutting out the middle man.
Personal career diary & CV converter – This site takes the hassle out of doing and re-doing and editing and re-editing your CV by allowing you to keep a master personal career diary, and then intelligently pulls out the relevant information for the relevant job, making your CV simple and easy to update.
Seamless fitness tracker – Revolutionising your fitness technique, tracking and performance through the use of wearable sensors to ensure you’re always at your best.
Wedding marketplace – A marketplace for all things weddings, tapping into a highly personal, highly valued multimillion pound industry.
Fitness marketplace – Think Airbnb for the fitness & health industry, matching local fitness providers with people looking for new ways to stay fit.
Food subscription box for new FMCG product testing – Like a Graze box (but not limited to healthy food) where you get brand new products for a fraction of the price, in return for your opinions.
Car Angels - A peer to peer car (or bike) breakdown recovery marketplace, helping you not get ripped off, wait for ages or pay expensive insurance when you break down. Think Kabbee for breakdowns.
Personal dashboard tracker – Tracking how you spend your time and when you’re most productive.
They’ll be visited today by a whole host of awesome mentors, who will grill them like a BBQ, and help teams take their ideas from ok to amazing.
We can’t wait to see what they come up with… Watch this space to see what happens, which teams pivot, which teams flop, and who the winners are.
